Bull Riding in Monroe, Thank you from the promoters

Walton counties first bull riding event in Monroe over the weekend was fun and exciting according to the fans leaving Saturday night. The fans were bundled up due to the cold front that came in Friday night. But that didn’t stop over 1000 fans from coming out.
The event was scheduled for Friday night and Saturday, but due to the rain and lightning, Friday night’s bull riding and barrel racing had to be cancelled. Rodney Culpepper one of the event promoters said, "We couldn’t risk putting the fans in danger, and it only takes one strike of lightning. The arena was flooded with water, and made for slippery conditions for the barrel racers" He went on to say, "Although we missed Friday night, Saturday the fans turned out and saw a great show"
The event opened at noon on Saturday, while the grounds crew worked on the arena, the band and kiddie’s rides were moved inside the covered arena for their enjoyment.
The County Line Band and Hannah Thomas dressed in scarfs and jackets to beat the weather and performed great. Kids were treated to pony rides, bungee jumping and moonwalks to stay warm.
Co-promoter Steve Cain declared the event a success and said that they would be bringing bull riding back to Monroe sometime next year. He went onto to say, he hoped that Mother Nature would be kinder to the fans, and was hoping for a September date.
Q92.3 DJ Julio was on hand broadcasting live and interviewed the band, and many of the competitors. Sean Willingham made an appearance and signed autographs for his fans. Those waiting in line were treated to being up close and personal with some of the bulls.
Overall, the reaction of fans was great and they said they were happy to see such an event in their hometown, and was looking forward to next year.
